Head Coach - Jarret Whidden
Jarret enters his fourth season as Head Coach at Kent State University with great expectations. In Jarret's first season, the Golden Flashes set a new team record for wins in a season (26) on route to a National Tournament appearance. Jarret has lead Kent State to four consecutive 20 win seasons and four consecutive National Tournament Appearances.  Jarret brings great experience and an understanding of what it takes to win to Kent State. Jarret was a standout player in his only season at Ohio University (ACHA Div I) earning the ACHA Player of the Year and ACHA Div I All-Tournament honors for the 93-94 season while leading the country in scoring. Jarret then completed three successful years playing at Ohio State University (NCAA Div I) while earning his Bachelor's Degree in Economics. Following graduation at Ohio State, Jarret spent the next six years notching 327 points, playing at the Professional Level with stops in the IHL, ECHL, UHL, WPHL and the WCHL.

Asst Coach - Eddie Martin

Eddie is entering his second year as an assistant coach for Kent State Hockey. He assists with the forwards, in addition to acting as general manager for game-day operations. Last year, he helped lead the team to its fourth consecutive ACHA National Tournament appearance. Eddie played two seasons at Kent State and was a leader for the team, tallying 50 goals and 57 assists. His talent took him to the ACHA and the CSCHL All-Star games. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a minor in marketing in 2009 and is currently enrolled in the master’s of business administration program.

Asst Coach - Kye Budziszewski

Kye is starting his first season as an assistant coach for Kent State Hockey. He will assist with practice and in-game coaching. Kye played four years as a defenseman for Kent State and was the team captain last year. He went to the ACHA National Tournament every year he was on the team and racked up 13 goals and 35 assists for a total of 48 points in 134 games played.  He will graduate in December 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in business management and a minor in marketing.

PR Director - Carrie Drummond

Carrie is a senior public relations major at Kent State. She covered the team for the Daily Kent Stater in the spring of 2009. The following season she started working directly for the team as public relations coordinator. Carrie writes for the team website, manages the Facebook and Twitter accounts, helps with game-day operations, and organizes community group nights. She plans to work in community relations for a National Hockey League team after graduation. This summer, Carrie is a marketing/promotions intern for the Boston Bruins.

Director of Hockey Operations - Christian Wilk
Chris has been at Kent St for 18 years, building the program to consistently contend for a National Tournament spot. After 12 years as the Head Coach and leading Kent State to National Tournament appearances in 2000 and 2001. Christian stepped down has Head Coach to focus on the administrative side of the program. Chris has served as the CSCHL President for three terms and is also the current ACHA Executive Director. Chris was the recipient of the Don Spencer Award in 2010 by the American Collegiate Hockey Association for his Service, Dedication and Leadership.

Kent State Ice Hockey is proud to be a partner with the International Center for Sport Management and Integral Sports Solutions. The International Center for Sport Management works in conjunction with business and the Sport Management program at Kent State to provide assistance with administration, marketing, PR and other aspects of the organization through internships and consulting. This partnership allows the organization to incorporate professional business practices into the standard daily functions to improve the value to the student/athletes, university community and the fans.
